New happnin's

Ok so I think I'm gonna start actually doing something on here...I really like plays and musicals, and I'm looking to major in journalism, so my dad had this brilliant idea to review the plays I see. So I dunno how this is gonna go...but I thought I'd try it out.

So on Monday we went to see Guys and Dolls at the Hale Center Theater in Orem.

WHICH I would highly highly recommend. If you're in the area. SO fantastic. If you haven't seen Guys and Dolls, it's takes place in New York City and it starts out with a gambler, Nathan Detroit, trying to find a place to hold his crap game. He needs $1000 to get a place set, so he makes a bet that another gambler, Sky Masterson, can't take a certain Doll to Havana. This Doll happens to be a Sergent at the Save a Soul mission and, Nathan thinks, is not the type of Doll that would go to Havana. However, after giving Sarah Brown a marker for supplying 12 genuine sinners at a prayer meeting, Sarah goes with Sky to Havana. What he doesn't plan on is falling in love with her. In the meantime, Nathan's Doll Adelaide, just wants to get married after having been engaged for 14 years, but finds out that Nathan is still running the crap game.

So it goes on and by the end everyone is happy. But you should just go see it because I'm not going to give you a play-by-play of the whole thing. :) So hopefully that synopsis made some sense. Maybe I'll get better at synopsisizing...? (synopsising...?) Anyways. As for the cast, they were fantastic. Sky Masterson was great, Sarah Brown was wonderful and had a beautiful voice. Nathan Detroit was super funny and had a ton of hilarious one-liners. Ok so I have seen this musical a few times and this girl who played Adelaide in this version was the best I have ever seen. She was so funny and was absolutely perfect for the part. She also played Nellie Forbush in South Pacific a few months ago and she was perfect for that part too.

So basically this was a fantastic musical and if you are in the area and have the chance you should most definitely go and see it. It runs through August 10, 2013.

Well. I hope this was a good post...I'll keep them up as I see more plays and musicals and other stuff.
